Why Untitled is the Album of the year.....

Hip-Hop has always been a reflection of a small segment of the global community. Now Hip-Hop has become a global community. In such a climate, you get a lot of pressure to conform to the instant hit’s now (“ringtone era”) and leave consciousness in the underground circuit. Nas refused to conform and offered us one of the best albums released this year, and one of the best all time.

We have a Black man becoming President, a war that seems to be endless, and an economy that is failing globally. Hip-Hop is the voice of a people and Nas took this opportunity to raise his voice and be heard. I wasn’t on board with the original title of his album at all, but with the name Untitled and the cover (another reason this album is classic) there is no mistaking what is going on with the album. Provocative, edgy and precise are how I would describe this album. The fact that this album hasn’t done numbers isn’t a mistake and proof that numbers DO LIE. I have already declared this album a classic, 5 star album, if you haven’t, listen again.

Before this album, and yea, I heard Illmatic, I was never a Nas fan. I thought he was over hyped. Never have I been more excited to eat my own words. I was wrong. Can one album change my mind? Apparently. Can one album change Hip-Hop? This one should have, problem is, no one album can change the industry. If you are one of the people that gripe about the state of Hip-Hop, go support this album. If you are one of the people that were pissed that Weezy went plat in a week, but better albums haven’t gone gold, buy this album. If you are one of the people that love Hip-Hop, buy this album.

^^  Well said.  I couldn't have said it better myself.  I've been listening to this album off and on since it's release.  And every time I listen to it, I pick up something else new that I've might've missed before.  There's so many gems on this album.

Untitled is my favorite Nas album period, and that's no diss to his other work at all but it's an undeniable classic in my opinion there isn't one track that i would change at all.

You on point pham....that was the Album of 08', everybody else came with the ordinary shit that was expected, yet Nasir highlights the Black race and our culture in the form of an album....he opened the eyes of those opposed to hip-hop when he said he would name it "****"....the record companies allow all this other bullshit in hip-hop to go on, yet when Nas was taking it back to the roots, they get scared of what america thinks. They will let a black man look like a fool, but when he does something that will spark the intelligent minds, he gets blocked, its all good....we know the deal.....Nas= What hip-hop should be representing to the fullest in times. The economy f'd Up, but every weekend you see the same broke m'fers in the club dancing to this wack as music that's out. People would rather buy a CD of Kanye West trying to sing about his broken love life, rather than buy a Nas CD that represents everything that BLACKS have been going through for the past 4 centuries......smh..... Knowledge is supreme.
