With the Death of MJJ I was thinking, does his career prove that there is a true connection between Quality and Sales? We all know music and art are subjective but "Thriller" sold 109 Million copies Worldwide. Are 109 Million people really wrong? I'm willing to say it's a FACT that "Thriller" is a Classic album and if someone didn't like it, that doesn't change that fact. Also Michael Jackson only released 10 albums as a solo artist yet he managed to sell over 750 Million albums worldwide. I think that also proves a case that QUALITY is better over QUANITY. Michael has a high Quality of songs and albums but didn't release as many LP's as his contemparies. What do you guys think??? because when Michael Becomes the Highest Selling Artist of All Time and he will as the years come, how can anyone say Sales don't equal Quality when the Highest Selling Artist of all time has nothing but Classic songs and albums under his belt?

Really think about the Question though, example:
Tupac - 75 Million WW Eminem - 73 Million WW
A lot of people proclaim Pac the GOAT and feel he has high quality in his catalog. Interestingly enough you don't really hear that about Eminem. But are all 70 + Million of those people wrong? And Punisher, Leo and Kate are amazing actor/actress and James Camron is a Legendary director therefor the films Quality isn't question so it's Box Office only affirms that quality in my view. The same way it validates Michael, Pac and yes even Em's career. |
