The debates will stay open for 24 hours, each person can only go once until the next person responds. There is a 450 word limit, so we can cut down on the titangraphs. Each person has a total of 5 goes within that 24 hour period, and once your post is submited you cannot go back and edit anything, if you are caught that is an automatic disqualification. Once your debate is over, people in the ill community and those in the tournament can vote on who gave the strongest argument, not whose side you agree with.

Here is your topic, this is a question that has plaqued hiphop fans in the 2000's, but you guys can settle this once and for all, Jay Z or Nas? Take everything into account.

Louie Mo- Jay Z

Wavin Automatic Gunz@Nunz- Nas

This Jay every day..................

The topic of this debate is who is better Jay-Z or Nas, that is like comparing a lexus to a maybach. While many would agree that these two are arguably the best m.c.s' in the game , jay -z gives you that extra class and substance than nas just can not do. I mean how ever you slice the pie , this man we know as Shawn "Jay-Z" Carter will always come out the creme de la creme in the hip hop world.

There are many categories which proves my statement above but let start with his influence on this music we call hip hop, mainly his brand single DOA..............................

This song alone had the industry shaken up. Artists were taken back by his stance on the auto tune craze. While most of them were ready to release new music use auto tune , they are hurry back to the lab to re create their music  in fear of the influence that jay-z of the hip hop nation that any product usin this equipment would automatically fail. Rumor has that P-Diddy , who before the song stated that about 90 percent of his new album is done in auto tune , is in the studio re recording his album for that same reason. I mean this is P-Diddy we are talkin about , he is consider a hip hop mogul in many circle , why should he care about what jay -z says right? ??????????? He cares because he knows the impact of Jay-Z words and how people follow his ideas and opinons. Now if that ain't have the game in a choke hold then i don't know what is then ..............

Let me begin my argument by debunking my opponents argument of Jay-Z's "apparent" influence in the hip-hop game. Not only was D.O.A. a failure as a good song (wack beat, sub par lyrics, weird chorus), but also a failure as an attempt to cause the "death of autotune." Jay-Z himself said that "only Kanye, Wayne, and T-Pain can use autotune...".. so I ask myself, who else is using it? All the effort to end it yet he excuses the three most popular artists who use it. This TOTALLY DISCREDITS his whole "Death of Autotune" movement. To add the the problem, T-Pain has also stated he will be using autotune more-often now because of Jay's apparent hating. Jay recieved more negative feedback from other popular artists such as Fabulous and Jim Jones. His whole crusade was pointless....

Now, onto my argument, why NaS is better then Jay-Z...

Lets begin with "Illmatic." NaS bursts onto the hiphop scene in 94' with the most lyrical music since Rakim Allah. This album alone is enuff to hand somebody legendary status. From the very introduction of the album listeners were amazed at the talent and wisdom of young (19) Nassir Jones. This is the album other hip-hop albums are compared against for quality of lyrics, production, content, and creativity. Only a truly talented artist could create such a widely regarded classic at such a young age, unlike Jay-Z.

While NaS was building his legendary status in the 94-99 era, Jay-Z was struggling to make a name for himself. Eventually Jay studied and bit from Biggie's "RTD" and Raekwon's "OB4CL", releasing his debut album "Reasonable Doubt" in 96'. Jay's album went unnoticed tho until he eventually made a name for himself years later.

When comparing the two's debut albums and originality, there is no doubt in anybodies mind "Illmatic" and NaS rise far above Jay-Z. NaS perfected deep subliminal metaphors and vivid storytelling on tracks such as "One Love" and "NY State Of Mind." Jay-Z's album was of much lower quality, and contained content and ideas taken from other popular artists out, and thats why it had no influence when it was released.

Okay, i see where you are goin with this and i can commend on that, but that where it stops becasue you are reaching with some of your statements .

1.Eventually Jay studied and bit from Biggie's "RTD" and Raekwon's "OB4CL", releasing his debut album "Reasonable Doubt" in 96'.

how could jay-z bite from biggie rtd album when jay-z DR was release on 06/25/96 and biggie joint dropped on 03/25/97....... if that is possible the jay-z is one cold dude to bite an album before it drops, that got to be a first .

2.NaS perfected deep subliminal metaphors and vivid storytelling on tracks such as "One Love" and "NY State Of Mind."

I guess the songs "Can I Live ", "Friend or Foe", "Coming of Age" were just empty track with no storyingtelling ........... you might want to pick up a copy before you make that statement again.

3.Jay-Z's album was of much lower quality, and contained content and ideas taken from other popular artists out, and thats why it had no influence when it was released.
