Hype my nigga hype.

here's how it works.

Labels latch onto an artist, and they wanna make him a big star, so they figure out what will appeal to the masses. In Jeezy's case it was the "dope boy" imagery and the snow man thing. So what they did was the signed him, got (forced in some cases) credible artists to sing his praises, put him in every magazine on every radio show, and most of the fans (sheep really) will fall in line.

then comes the music. They know he has to be hot so they get the hottest artists out to sing his hooks, hottest producers to do his beats, and between a hook and a hot beat you can fill your mouth with marbles and say the pledge of allegiance and these fools won't give a what. nah mean.

thats how you build a successful artist

I'm an Illmatic/ Old School Wu stan and I get into Jeezy. I'm gonna tell you why.

Jeezy respects hip hop. Very few rappers put that raw emotion in their music that just tells the listener that he loves making music and putting his thoughts on a record. He combines this raw emotion with explosive beats, witty adlibs and a grimey voice that just sounds raw on record. If you listen to his lyrics, you can hear how he wants to be a respected hip hop artist and he gets offended when old heads say that his music is not hip hop. On top of that, he has shown growth through each of his albums and keeps getting better and better. He's not a complex lyricist and won't exite you with multisyllable rhymes and wordplay. But he has found an alternative means to create a unique sound and as a result, he has put together a string of three solid albums.

Listen to him closer and you will see what I'm talking about.

either you get it or you don't.  He got a serious mic presence, he's clever lyrically, beats are crazy, unique style and his music got attitude to it.

I don't know what else to tell you.

question who was Shawty Redd and Drumma Boy doing beats for before Jeezy?  Did you hear of DJ Drama before Young Jeezy?  Who was the first to put the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League on an album?  His first 4 singles had no R&B singer.  Jeezy was signed to Bad Boy and Def Jam at the same time.  But I guess that's all hype.  Three straight platinum albums is all hype.

You can't build stars... either you are or you aren't.

that's cuz you aint listening.  He got serious mic presence.  You can almost tell if Jeezy will be on a record simply by the way it sounds.  Jeezy is forceful on the mic.  He has no problem carrying entire albums by himself.

That's emotion...that's mic presence...that's lyrics

Moms smokin rocks same shit im sellin
So who's wrong her or me
She addicted to tha high im addicted to tha cash
Almost put my hands on here when i caught her in my stash

yall niggas don't really listen to what he's saying.  Sure he aint gon preach to you but he often drops "a lil science off in every verse" (Big Boi)
