At death row it was all about gats and violence kickin back to the beats with the 1992 chronic but then with 2001 it seemed like he had alot on his chest he let it all out to some unbeatable instrumentals so which version of dres better? the first and original Chronic>>>>>>anything Dre's done

i like em both.... i dont think he fell off at all... when he was with the row he produced practically only west coast artists... at aftermath he proved his sound was universal by producing at least one person from every region... so i dont prefer one over the other.... Death row dre: put himself on the map as one of the best producers.... Aftermath dre: cemented his legacy |

what's up with World Class Wreckin' Cru Dre? He's up there too... nh... nah, just playin'. Dunno, I like both styles equally. One is the classic Dre, the other is the new Dre, but both are good. He is one of the few persons that kept up with the time without falling off.

To me it's almost a toss up. I think musically, his work on Aftermath was superior. He showed a lot of growth as a producer. Now how much he actually produced, not what he paid Scott Storch and Mel Man to slap his name on, we'll probably never know. But as far as his work with Death Row and Ruthless, it was definately groundbreaking. And I know you could argue that NWA was just takin what Ice-T and Above the Law and people like that did to the next level. |

it's too bad Dre's beats have been suspect since The Row era, niggas been complaining about dre taking credit for beats that wasn't his, i think even Pac spoke on this, Mel-Man was the key to 2001,
