Rapper Charles Hamilton recently signed to Interscope records, label of such high profile recording artists as 50 Cent and Dr. Dre, has invoked the name of Matthew Shepard in his reply to an angry blogger on his website. Matthew Wayne Shepard was a gay American student at the University of Wyoming who was murdered near Laramie on the night of October 6–October 7, 1998. Shepard died in Fort Collins, Colorado, on October 12, 1998, from severe head injuries. His widely reported murder brought national as well as international attention to the issue of hate crime legislation at the state and federal levels. Charles Hamilton is a newly signed artist making quite a large buzz in the rap industry. He is releasing mixtapes and preparing for his new album on Interscope set to release in early 2009. A friend of superstars Eminem and Kanye West, Charles Hamilton is known for his originality and eclectic uniqueness. Known for wearing the color pink and stating that God is a woman it is ironic that he has recently come under fire from a gay blogger who calls himself “Pinky da Mouse”. Pinky da Mouse who claims to have had spoken on the topic at earlier times on the blog was not happy with the latest Hamilton usage of the word “faggot” and in several freestyle raps (spontaneous improvised raps) that have been widely viewed on youtube.
