I actually just happened to have watched "Goodfellas" earlier this week for the first time in about a year... Holy shit that film is a seemless masterpiece. It's almost sickening to watch at times. Like, "How can someone do this?". Scorsese's eye and mind was on some other shit when he made that film.
So yeah, this is a bitchass thread... Sorry.

It's debatable, both movies are masterpieces but Goodfellas to me has more stand-out scenes that don't involve Joe Pesci brutally murdering (or getting murdered).

Depends on what you're looking for. Yeah Casino explores 3 different facets of humanity instead of really just one like Goodfellas did. So in terms of character work and the exploration of human nature it's more layered but I find Goodfellas to be the better film because of better pacing. Both are classics though.

i can agree that Casino is better.
always thought Goodfellas was kinda overrated, the voiceover gets annoying as hell and can't stand dude's jewish wife. she somehow manages to be more irritating to watch then even Sharon Stone at her worst, especially nothing worse then when she starts doing the voiceover i can only smh. |

i don't agree with the thread title, but i've always preferred Casino. never really like Goodfellas
