Now keep in mind ive always had a dumb phone if u will...a regular phone. My sister got a blackberry pearl and i got to play around with that a little and didnt really like it and this guy i work with recently got a htc touch on sprint which i like a little...

i got the LG Voyager with verizon and im pretty much still satisfied with it right now. Im up for a upgrade next yr and im thinkin about coppin the HTC Raphael when it comes out on Verizon since its comin for verizon and sprint.

a few questions tho..

On smartphones is it possible to download single songs or albums off of zshare/megaupload/rapidshare or etc?

does the real youtube work? or do you have to use the m.youtube.com version?

does yahoo games work?

if a smartphone has wifi on it how does that work and why would someone use the wifi on the phone instead of the phones internet?

is there like a mobile winrar program if its possible to dl albums?

well first, u gotta make the distinction between what you want: either a smartphone or a ppc. smartphones (Moto Q, Samsung Blackjack etc)typically use a dumbed down version of WIndows Mobile 6. You dont get all the features like you would with a Pocket Pc. Pocket Pc's (like the HTC Touch Pro, Mogul, Wing) have a full blown version that basically allows your phone to function like a windows-based pc. you can download just about anything to a PPC, so that means your rapidshare links and all that will work just fine. real youtube does work on most ppcs and of course, its going to be a mobile version-slimmed down and made easy for your phone. yahoo games, do not work just as flash games typically dont work. if a smartphone or ppc has wifi on it, what it would basically do is give you the option of connecting to it rather than use your phone carriers internet connection (ie EDGE, 3G or EVDO) when you browse the net on your phone...which of course makes it faster. its like connecting your laptop to someone else's wifi to get a better connection. yes, there is a mobile version of winrar for extraction.

bottomline, if your going to get one, it sounds like you'd wanna get a PPC. keep in mind that the possibilities are pretty much endless with a PPC but it seems like Windows Mobile isnt the most stable operating system for phones yet. its far from perfect and freezes/crashes a good amount of the time. make sure you do your research before choosing your phone..

yeah, u should be able to do it in the same fashion that you would on a pc. by default, u get IE as your browser. if you use a browser like Opera, you should be able to view pages as if they were real webpages...almost similar to an iphone.

when you get your phone, you'll notice that most of the installation files for apps are in .cab format. you can get a buncha free apps from here:

http://freecabs.kilu.de/

if you were to load that URL up using the phones browser, you can download apps directly to your phone without having to use ActiveSync. Winrar for ppc's is called PocketRar.

when i had my ppc, all the apps i downloaded were free. not only can you get apps like winrar, but you can also download emulators (snes, nes etc) and run the same roms you'd run from a regular pc..
