All this long typing.
In reality it doesn't matter, as long your feelings ate the same.
Taking the last name is just a social norm, and part I'd a traditional American marriage, buy it's 2013 now, if someone wants to keep their own name that's cool.
As far as "why get married then?" because marridge still has many benefits and uses even without the customary name change.
