As far as the whole rap game goes.....the nigguhs who have the talent and potential aren't using it and the ones who have absolutely no talent are abusing it. 95% of all these nigguhs are either str8 up wack or so average that they don't stand out in comparison to the greats past and present.

I know how these types of thread tend to turn into a "coast bashing" event, but the truth is that it's not just NY. All regions are suffering imo. NY has just been flopping the longest for it's own reasons which everyone has already stated. Nowadays, most regions have 1 or 2 standout artists who are really talented beyond the average run of the mill, cookie cutter, trend riders and gimmicks. The rest of them are average to below average in terms of actual talent and longevity. I think ASAP has some good shit, but he'll fall to the wayside shortly if he doesn't continue to grow as an artist. I'm still not sold on Joey Badass. It's almost like he's being force fed to the masses by those that miss that old 90s sound, but really he's just average by 90s standards.

IMO, there are a number of factors that contributed to the decline of NY rap music. Wack ass rap beefs, bullshit music ( although that pretty much applies to the overall decline of rap music overall regardless of coast ), sense of entitlement, crab in a barrel mentality, content disconnect from the average listener ( most people tend to gravitate towards music they can relate to or that gives them a feeling or experience. Nowadays the average rap listener isn't going apeshit over how dope your metaphors are or how creative your song concept is. ). Me personally......I don't give a fuck about none of that. Most of it is petty and irrelevant in my opinion. I care about the music art...the craft...the culture...the talent.......overall good music, and unfortunately I haven't heard much good rap music coming from anywhere lately...especially NY. Rap has gone from an artform to a get rich quick scheme and the quality/integrity of the music has suffered in the process.

As long as this shit is better than Kingdom Come and BP3......

Oh it definitely happens. I have witnessed it a couple of times w/ my very own eyes. I remember going to this skrip joint w/ my boys when I was in college.
