I almost shed a tear at the realness. I agree 100%. The problem is three-fold.....you got labels pushing these dumbed down minstrel acts, untalented artists lining up in droves to cash in on the buffoonery and consumers cosigning the bullshit w/ their $. The fucked up truth is that this bullshit that floods the airwaves wouldn't even exist if there wasn't a market for it. What does that say about the mind state of some of us as consumers? I get it....everybody doesn't want to hear lyrical, conscious, uplifting or thought provoking, music w/ substance. Sometimes you just want to "turn up" ( damn I hate that phrase ) and you need that ignorant theme music to get the party poppin'. Unfortunately there is no balance and the hip hop genre "appears" (perception >> reality) to be oversaturated w/ garbage. Mainstream artists aren't challenging themselves to step outside of the box. They aren't challenging themselves to present the material in a different way. You can still keep it street w/o sounding like a complete idiot in the process. It seems like imagination....creativity.....intelligence....self awareness....pride and a lot of other things are missing from the music nowadays. Good music is out there, but you have to dig for it. We only have ourselves to blame because, once again, we sold ourselves out to the highest bidder....smdh

This is exactly what is happening...history repeating itself and maybe some people aren't seeing it that way. IMO, hip hop is one of the most influential, if not THE most influential, music genre out there. It transcends skin color, ethnicity, state lines and continents. I am pissed at the people who know its influence....who know its profitability.....who know its power and have used all of those things to destroy it for personal gain....caring nothing about the origin, culture or fact that the prevalence of negative imagery in today's music further promotes ignorant black stereotypes. You have weak minded individuals who believe everything they see on tv...imitating the bullshit...selling lies to the clueless. Then you got muffugas who see it as nothing more than a hustle.....type of opportunistic fucks who would sell crack to their own mother. They don't give a damn about it either. They jump at the chance to get pimped in return for a chump change handout, a couple of groupies and 15 minutes of fame.
I would even go as far as saying that there is a strategic plan where it is being used as a weapon against urban America....much like the cia/crack/cointelpro/real rick ross shit. You ain't never heard of the country music police...or the classical music cops, but they got the hip hop police? Shit is deeper than rap ( no Ross ).
