This is just another example of why I don't put too much energy into validating the authenticity of the "messenger". I take the message itself for what it is and leave it at that. Ye been on some hypocritical shit since day 1 so this is really nothing new....no more than it was w/ Tupac, Nas or any other artist who was/is known to say one thing and do another. However, the validity of the message doesn't change just because the messenger may not be practicing what he/she preaches. But, I can certainly understand where people may have an issue w/ that.
To me, Jay was a victim of bad production. Some artist get too much credit because they have dope beats but aren't good lyricist. Jay's beats weren't on par with his skills on a couple of his early albums.
^^^ This. All of his albums that people really like are the ones w/ the dope beats.....Blueprint, Black Album, American Gangster, Reasonable Doubt. Jay suffers from Nas Syndrome at times on the beat tip.
