Yeesh. The ignorance in this thread. Racism won't ever die will it? When the long-oppressed minority expresses equal disdain for other races.
Let her marry who she wants. Personally it isn't a bother. Or "coon" behaviour. (And thinking etymologically, how the hell did a raccoon come to represent a sellout anyway?)
So I guess you intend to work at petco for the rest of your life? You already said he was paying for your education. So one day you'll be in a position to contribute to maintaining the lifestyle of whatever lifestyle you guys intend to have. Its obvious your currently in a healthy relationship and I can't knock it. But you have sold out your own people in doing so. You'll always be a sellout in the eyes of blacks who do get it. The legacy you'll leave behind will contribute to the degradation of blacks. Your children will resent ever having a black mother and assimilate themselves further. I see it happen all the time.
And thats great your folks taught you to find a man who loves you. But they didn't teach you anything past that. Marriage is just as much a political endeavor as it is a relationship between two loving people. It has significant ramifications when comes to enhancing state of the community.
If you say so, buddy. Have a great day.
You have yet answer any of my questions with a valid answer. If that is how you want to end this argument then so be it. I would have really liked to understand your mindset and how you have come to understand the nature of racism and white supremacy. It is what it is though. Have a great day as well.
You seem as though you'd be well-read on pre-colonial (Black) Africa, Black American history, the rocky road we've transversed, then to now, Black cultural topics period.
My questions: What are the top ten books you'd recommend for learning about our people, how we got to this relatively low position we're at, and how to improve our standing?
