Jay-z rap style is nothing like Biggies. Flow wise back then his cadence was more like a G Rap and lyrically he is much more wordy, witty,etc than Biggie. Jay uses a lot of double entandres, and Biggie was more of a storyteller who uses humor.

usmarin a lot of niggas used to say BIG reminded them of G Rap too subject matter wise. They said that about Nas also (Rakim mixed with G Rap) flow and subject wise. Big used double entendres too, and to me he was able to be just as witty while using less words than Jay. BIG did more with less, Brookyln's Finest shows that imo. Not to say Jay aint bring nothing to the table, I guess its preference, but I felt BIG more then for sure.

BIG's death opened the door for a whole lotta MC's to be more successful than they might have been otherwise, not even just Jay-Z. DMX too. Lox, Mase, etc. Jay hustled hard for years and got no real shine until BIG passed. When he was going through phases (fushnicken rap etc) BIG had the blueprint laid out already. Why was the Sunshine video looking like a Bad Boy production? Why did he quote endless BIG lines in his music? Because of his impeccable business sense and work ethic? Not quite. Jay is a guy who sees someones invention, runs with it, and becomes famous for it once people forget the real inventor. Im not the biggest BIG fan either but when I was hearing the Reasonable Doubt shit in 96 I was like "Oh, another Biggie huh" lol....
