Day 3 clinical experience- Got assigned a patient. He had dementia, cardiomyopathy, and a feeding tube in. He also lost the ability to speak coherently 95% of the time.
Before I arrived, he'd been found finger painting in his own feces and festooning the room with it.
I got his O2 sat ok...but when I went to get a temperature reading he hollered, "YOU CAN GON' TA HELL! YOU AIN'T ABOUT TO TAKE MY MONEY!"
I sighed, and realized it was gonna be one of "those" days.
He then proceeded to rip out his feeding tube (ouch) and attempt to hurdle over the guard rails on the bed. Instructor came to see what the hubbub was about and attempted to finish gathering vital signs from the client.
He kissed his fist like some sort of queer, emaciated boxer and punched her clean in the tiddies.
Needless to say I got assigned to a different patient. It was a rough day.
