Yes. Eaton's personal bests in some of his events would have earned him medals in these Olympics. His High Jump for example, would have got him gold (if I remember correctly)
It's not just the fact that they compete in all of these events, its the time frame in which they do it. Think about it, Bolt will smoke them in the 100, and get destroyed in the other 9 events they do.
Five events day 1, five day 2....and the last event is the hardest of all, the 1500. It reqiures speed, endurance and strength...about as comprehensive a test of athletic ability as there is in the world.
Bolt is not even close to being the best 'athlete' on the planet (going by the definition of the word), but Eaton certainly has an argument to be.
