I wrote this poem as part of my healing process during my recovery from the traggic accident I was in 2 weeks ago. Writing is another form for me to express my feelings and I feel that sharing my story would help me cope with my tragedy. This isn't the first time i been in a car accident and i lost somebody, but re-living this experince again really traumatized me. It's a long road to recovery but I'm in it for the long run as my battle with cancer isn't over either.. if anything should ever happened to me, ya'll know I fought very hard and when times got ruff, I never gave up on any of ya'll and some of ya'll never gave up on me either! thank you! Malaho.. without further due, here is:

The Accident

Got off the phone with my cousin Ness,
Told her I'm going to see her in Philly's finest.
Called the cab,
Packed my bags,
At the time I didn't think bad,
I was happy and just glad,
Wasn't even mad,
Threw on my Dodger fitted cap,
Grabbed my bags, stepped outside and caught the cab.
Cab driver opens my left door with a hello and a laugh,
Plumped in my seat with my purse bag.
Off to the airport my take off's at 7,
I hear his phone ringing "Honey I'll be home before 11"
Approaching traffic, I sweat him, "C'mon it's 6:11"
"Get off the phone and get me to the port before 7"
"Drive faster will get there faster"
My demand was bound for reckless,
He steps on the gas, I feel the car excelerating,
I pat him on the shoulder "there you go, the speed finally elevated"
Engine roars, yet traffic ahead,
This I fear,
I yell "slow down!"
He loose's control,
I'm frantic,
Many car accident I close my eyes and duck for cover,
this time i didn't close my eye's nor duck for cover,
I hear breaks screatching,
The rear of a semi disel is al lI'm seeing,
I see his arm reaching,
I looked into his rear mirror, his eyes fills with
fear and terror.
Now all I hear is choppers hovering,
People screaming,
lying there I felt my face wet, I knew my face was bleeding,
My brain's swelling.
Dead unconcious for a few minutes,
My mind flashes, I see birth moms huggin me in a hogan dwelling,
awaked by Dr.s yelling,
I see lights flashing,
I'm saved while my driver wast dying,
Quickly I'm sedated,
For 5 day's I'm morphed faded,
Fractured 5 bones with a peel to the scalp now I feel jaded,
🤬 that, it can't all be that ill fated,
So my thought process I had to change it,
Put on a front with no need for pity,
My birthday just passed and shoot you not I'm gonna make it to 50!
Maybe even 60!
All I need is 🤬 with me,
And I know he with me,
He ain't never deceive me,
The rest of my family's gone so he's all that I got with me,
The only father that ever loved me,
I'm his child, he taking care of me,
I can't be mad at him for taking Joe with him,
He gone but now he resting..........
An accident that changed my life now I live everyday cause it's a blessing.

To be continued....

Rest in peace Joe, thank you for shielding me and sparing your life for mines...

TupacFan, you're the most undeserving of the struggles that I've had the displeasure of seeing, but you're always so uplifting in your spirit and I can echo your sentiments in the start of your post. I hope that you pull through as I'm sure you will with your battle with cancer.... you're the strongest of the strong and we need you in this world.

The intro to your poem reminded me of the Fresh Prince song lol.

But it's a really tragic story and I feel for your loss... a good read as always, but a poem I wish was never written in ways.

Appreciate the drop and keep your head up...

Props for sharing, without the Waiting to Exhale section the site wouldn't have that creative outlet for posters such as you to release such great material for us all to read.
