illmatic is far more listenable imo with some of the beats on PIF sounding very dated
however the bars "thinking of a masterplan, there aint nothing but sweat inside my hands", are timeless tbh -

Illmatic's got more tracks to it than PIF (not counting all the instrumentals); but PIF's better quality... close one. Too close to call.
