I cant understand why people make a strong case for Ready To Die.

Those tracks on L.A.D. are something else.

Production was more diverse and everything sounded better.

My favorite track "Your Nobody Til Somebody Kills You" >> any Ready To Die track.

In terms of production, yeah. But I think Puffy reigned BIG back a lot on LAD to make it more commercial, it was less drivin by BIG's rapping ability and more by samples, production, and how well he could ride a beat. LAD is still a classic, but in terms of sheer rapping ability and rawness: Ready to Die>>

Name the best songs off Ready To Die and I will counter with better tracks off L.A.D.

And if your telling me that the beats on LAD overshadowed his rapping ability, you need to stop lying to yourself.

    1. "Gimme the Loot", "Warning", "Party and 🤬 ">>LAD
    2. Don't be an idiot, read what I wrote and ask yourself if I said @ any point that the beats overshadowed his raps
    3. I can listen to R2D all the way through, LAD has way too many fillers. I have the same exact issue with MATW and All eyez on me

L.A.D is overrated . Could have been a classic if it was one CD. Only reason is considered a classic is because B.I.G died not because of the musical material. Good not Great

"LAD" does not "🤬 " on "RTD" are you serious? They both have their share of Epic Tracks and are actually pretty even with each other:

    Storytelling:

RTD - Gimmie The Loot, Me and My 🤬 , Everyday Struggle, Things Dun Changed
LAD - Somebody's Got to Die, I got A Story To Tell, 🤬 Bleed

    Club/Commerical

RTD - Big Poppa, One More Chance,
LAD - Hypnotize, Mo Money, Mo Problem, 🤬 U Tonite

    Deep/Spiritual

    RTD - Juicy, Suicidal Thoughts
LAD - Sky's The Limit, Missing You

    Callabos:

    RTD - The What
LAD - Notorious Thugs, I love the Dough, Last Dayz, The world Is Filled

    Street/🤬 /Lyrical

RTD - Warning, Machine Gun Funk, Unbelieveable, Ready To Die
LAD - Kick in the Door, 10 🤬 Commandments, My Downfall, Your nobody till somebody kills you

    Subliminal:

    RTD - Who Shot Ya
LAD - Long Kiss Goodnight, What's Beef

"RTD" brought the East Back and is more cohesive than "LAD" which has about 3 filler tracks that bring it down (Another, Nasty Boy, Playa Hater). The only tracks not up to par on "RTD" is "Friend of Mine" and that's it the rest is pretty much flawless. Both Classic Masterpieces and Biggie was the most polished better emcee on "LAD" but "RTD" was just that raw pure uncut Hip Hop. "RTD" holds it own against the Golden Era Classics of the 80's which proves it's staying power. "LAD" holds it's own with all the modern day Classics. I give Big credit for being one of the few artist to drop Back to Back Classics.

Another goes hard though, what you expect from a Kim collabo?

He had to talk about something with her on the track, and knowing her image.

    I thought Another went hard.

It does but the biggest thing people try to say is "LAD had to much filler" which I don't get cause those 3 tracks are the only tracks I would say are not up to par. "Nasty Boy" is a club record and Biggie still spit fire but the beat is one of super pop 🤬 so it brings it down. "Another" is a dope back and forth battle of the sexes record which Biggie and Lil Kim perfected and I know most females enjoy that record so that's why guys diss it cause honestly it is a record for the ladies. "Playa Hater" was just a funny ass song and Big showing his humorous side. So if you take out the intro and the interlude that 22 tracks. Minus those 3 that would mean Biggie was pretty much 19/22. Sorry he wasn't perfect but over a double album, that's Classic material. You want to talk about Filler? See other double ablums with way more tracks than Biggie had. Biggie's double album was the most unfiller double album ever which is why it's the shortest in song count. Pac, Wu and other double albums had more songs than Biggie.

puffy ad-libbing all over ready to die keeps me from listening to it a lot.

how many 🤬 times do you need to say "AS WE PROCEED, TO GIVE YOU WHAT YOU NEED" in one track?

Puffy had the GOAT Adlibs. "Who Shot Ya" is one of the greatest rap songs and beats ever, Puffy adlibs fit perfectly on that track. SMH @ "Who Shot Ya" not making the original track listing and was only a B-side cut on the "Big Poppa" single and 10 year speical edition.

RTD is the best hip hop album of all time. LAD was hot too, but Puffy 🤬 BIG up by bringing in too many collabs and making the record too poppy... If you cut 6 or 7 tracks from LAD, it would have been better than RTD, but everything on RTD is a classic.

Co-sign B.I.G was RAW on R2D. LAD was made with the point of selling records

Exactly, there is no MC that is perfect. Every album has filler. Definitely co-sign this post.

Everything on Ready To Die isn't classic. It doesn't have any weak songs, but that doesn't make every song on it a classic. Ready To Die is like 14-15 songs w/o the intro or the skit. Life After Death is 20+ songs minus the intro and skits. On top of that Life After Death also has classic songs w/ about 3-4 weak spots, but it's 2 CD's of quality music as opposed to 1.

I did read in the SOURCE that they give it 5 mics because he died. even if i cut down that double cd to about 12 songs, ready to die is still crushin it.

truthfully, i dont like to think about it. too sad. sad because THE WHOLE WORLD KNEW he was gonna get murked when we heard he was out in cali on a promo tour.

but cant shed a tear because it was his own damn fault. he was........(insert first album title here --->)_______

I'm one of few ppl I ever met that agree it's better but I think more ppl say RTD cuz of the impact & it was a nice debut but majority of it sound dated nowadays [same w/ Illmatic]. I wouldn't say LAD 🤬 on it but I feel that the label "classic" should be determined by how well it sounds in the years ahead & w/ that said, LAD got the advantage... it still sound like it could be released today, IMO.

Also, B.I.G was experimenting w/ new flows & his wordplay was getting way better on LAD... I don't understand how y'all feel RTD was more lyrical, maybe by lyrical y'all mean the production was less emphasized.
