He's just listening to the wrong music. Let's not act like Wu Tang were 🤬 ' philosophers.

There's just as much dumb 🤬 on the radio now as there was in the 90's. Actin' like "how do you want it," and "shimmy shimmy ya," were expanding minds. 🤬 outta here.

    🤬 off with this 🤬 .

what about " keep your head up"
and " cream". and wu tang spit 5 percenter philosophy

I think you're missing my point, but that's fine.

My point is that there's just as much "smart" music today as there was then. This hip hop is getting dumbed down argument is 🤬 . Now, sure, you can make the argument than not as much "smart" 🤬 gets sold, and that's fine. But to say it's not there means you're a lazy ass fan and wanna be spoon fed content, so you shouldn't be complaining anyways.

Telling street stories in an artful and meaningful way >>> rapping about ignorant 🤬 to glorify and profit off it.
I hate when 🤬 ignore the difference

You're right, cuz Nas and Common donated all the profits from their "meaningful" art to the 'hood.

Stop finding these ridiculous 🤬 ways to differentiate when they don't really exist. The game got super profitable so everybody and their mama wanted to rap to get a piece of the pie. It's not as profitable anymore, so less people are rapping and those who are, do it for the love(moreso than 5-10 years ago). But nah, let's still cry about how hip-hop sucks despite the fact that 2012-2013 has been the best year for hip hop in over a decade.

I don't care how "artful," or "meaningful" a record is. EVERY artist is trying to profit off their music. If they weren't, they'd release the 🤬 for free and wouldn't sign to a major.

the real problem with hip hop is lack of balance between negative and positive and between artful music no matter the subject matter and music that is just trash.

superthug is lyrical genius compared to chief keef.

so 2012 and 2013 were decent years. big fuvking deal the past 6 years sucked. they lowered your expectations. alot of the new guys are just average compared to artist of the past.

even the wack guys in the 90s are better than the wack guys now

well someone in your generation 🤬 up then

Someone in their generation celebrated black ignorance and thinking that a "real 🤬 " is the one that done negativity. Funny how the same old heads that celebrated ignorance back in the day hate on the seeds that they planted in the 90s, that evolved to super-coonery.

Same ones that hated on PE and hated that "preachy black power 🤬 " and went to their favorite gangsta rapper that repped gangs/ hustling.

But just as long as the beat is hot, the hook is catchy, and it makes 🤬 shake their 🤬 . Nothing else matters. Hip hop is still recovering from the damage the ringtone era did to hip hop in the mid to late 2000's.

you right but hip hop isnt recovering from that. its just living with the effects of it. its like the ringtones are gone but the whack ass music is still around.
I think there has been a slow transition to lyricism in hip hop again. The dumb 🤬 really isn't as prevalent as before IMO.

True, but the transition is too slow, and these new cats are gonna fizzle out before they make a real difference. A lot of these new 🤬 are just as dumbed down as the ringtone rappers, but they just say 🤬 faster with more words. Kendrick, Drake, Wale and Cole are the only true multifaceted lyricists in the mainstream. Four dudes out of the dozens of other mufuckas with a record deal. Facemob may have a point come to think about it.

    Don't forget about Stalley fam.

I wonder why he move from Houston to New York

    I'm wondering this too
To paraphrase He said because most days Texas shuts down around 6pm where NYC is going all night 24/7 and he need that extra activity. He also stated he still visits Houston weekly as he has a lot of Business out there that he cannot leave be because that is still his real home...

    Relegated to the underground

All your favourite 90s RnB acts not named R. Kelly (even he is falling off commercially) are all signed to independent labels or not enough exposure ..

Another thing why is it when a southern 🤬 complains about hip hop, he gets cosigns but when a new York og says the same 🤬
Old irrelevant ass 🤬 need to sit his hating ass down somewhere. Always wanna hate on the young 🤬 getting money

^^^^ This is said. No feelings I'm just curious

Every time someone from NY criticizes hiphop they think he hatin on the South

Since the south is supposedly at the head of the game now only the south can talk sideways about their current contribution to the 🤬

u could eat a black girl's 🤬 or a white girl's 🤬 . and if both of them have AIDS you'll still catch it either way if you swallow their squirt. *kanye shrug*

    🤬 is obsessed with being smart-dumb 🤬

The thing is, these same smart-dumb 🤬 are now our elders and even our grandparents today.
