Wasn't the battle over the weekend?

Was their a clear and conclusive victor or was it close?

Who had the better punchlines?

I'm glad they didn't battle. Promoters always try to rip the artists off. they make $20,000 at the bar and another $100,000 in door receipts and expect an artist to perform "for the love of Hip Hop".

If the promoter is guaranteeing a certain amount of money the artist should never step on stage until he's paid in full. Otherwise he'll never get paid and he'll never eat. And the promoter laughs all the way to the bank.

Low ticket sales is what killed the event ...... or kept them from getting paid ........ heard all the regular battle rappers did battle tho ......

No amount of money is guaranteed when you're throwing a event...

Yeah but the promoter has to negotiate a deal to get the artist to show up. The deal can either be a percentage of the door receipts or a flat fee (which is a problem if the sales are low). there's usually a written agreement weeks, even months before the event. If the promoter is guaranteeing a certain amount and it's show time and the artist still hasn't gotten paid, he has every right not to perform.

Anybody remember after the Ether/SupaUgly beef Jay challenged Nas to a pay per view battle? As I remember, Nas said he already won and didn't want to battle live. It makes sense because Jay's style would work better in a live setting. Nas raps too fast and he's too lyrical. You have to listen to Nas's lyrics over and over agin to appreciate. Jay has punchlines that you catch the first time you hear it.

Sorry for turning this into a Nas/Jay thread.
