From a rim protection point of view, varnado and I think Griffin? are doing an excellent job. Ennis looks like he can atleast play at this level. But for like the couple of years or so, our summer squads could never score that many points really. But hopefully rashard gets shipped out because I would like two young guys to come in this yr and sit on that bench -
Burke look like 🤬 . And it's obvious the heat plan on "team ups" for the next 10 years 'cause their youngsters look like a middle school team.

Alec Burks is playing the 2 and Trey Burke is playing 1 but when Trey sits Alec plays the 1. Alec was one of Utah's 1st rounders from two years ago. The other dude is Enis Kanter

Not watching but I never was high on trey burke. I won't say he can't develop into a nice shoot first guard though. Did burks get a jumper yet, and how does Kanter look? I expect him to play well this year

Acutally he must have had a bad second half. I only watched the first half but he started off like 4-4 or 4-5. He finished 5-13. He carries himself like a a very good nba player though, you know when players just have that confidence? Yea he has it. Olynyk was throwing 🤬 up and hitting it. The Kelly Olynyk era has begun! Summer League matters. Damion Lillard lit up the summer league and carried into the season. Austin Rivers stunk up the summer league and carried it into the season. Summer league matters.
Ehhh idk about that. I think playing bad in the summer league says a lot but playing well? I can name a lot of players who play well and dont do 🤬 in the league

What DH brings to the game is power and D. This past year didn’t show due to rehab and confusion. If he is better of as an Astro, so be it. -
You gotta know what to look for in these summer league games (or preseason in the NFL).
I look for poise/motor, shot selection, stamina, court vision, and discipline (post moves, ball handling, etc.)
Not so much stats.
If a dude is nailing open J's --- dude can shoot, period. That won't change much because its 15,000 people watching him instead of 100.
And then you have to figure that many of these players are on teams with solid veterans playing their positions so it's not as easy for them to get PT. -

add marcus banks, donte greene, and the list goesn on. If you trash in the SL that says a lot to me, playing well is whats expected and doesn't say anything about how good you'll be in the NBA -
I don't like this view tho. I know it's a practice gym, but they could still manage a NBA game-like view.

You can say the bold about the NBA in general. None of these players are signed or drafted with the intent of them NOT being good.
Summer league is the first opportunity to see if they are or not. 2nd step is training camp. 3rd step is preseason games, 4th is their regular season opportunities.
It's a process. You can't discount any of it tho.

Alec Burks hit a few jumpers in the game and Ennis Kanter didn't play in this game. I said in the other post Kanter was there other 1st round pick when they drafted Alec Burks. Utah did have some other foreign big guy besides Gobert who showed he had a little bit of game. The French big Gobert Utah ran the court well and blocked a few shots.

The Vegas Summer League is played at Thomas & Mack arena where UNLV plays and it's like a regular basketball atmosphere. Tickets are hella cheap also. I wish I would've taken vacation now instead of a few months ago to watch the games.
