This dude said 'Still Dreamin' with that classic Diana Ross sample and very cool laid back mellow 70s sounding vibe is "one of the worst songs he ever heard .."

    Well, opinions

    Weird.

I remember when this song came out and on the IC everyone was dissing Jay's whisper-voice-style flow on this and praising Nas' flow and the way he switched it up. Lyrically it was thought to be a bit of draw, slightly edging in favor of Jay, but they both went very different directions.

Now the perception is that Jay's flow was "flawless" and Nas' flow was off.

Funny how things change. I still like Nas' verse better, but I think both were great.

🤬 said jay was dragging in the middle of his verse but he started and finished strong... So pretty much your saying it was inconsistent

I read (when the album came out) that this song was supposed to be one of Nas' storytelling joints. However, Jay heard the beat and put his verse to it. Kinda like what Kanye said on "Last Call" about Jay taking the "Heart of the City" track.

    XXl Magazine Jan/Feb 2007 No.88

XXL: So the Song with you and Jay, "Black Republican," is --

    NaS: It's on some Rap 🤬 . [Laughs] It's on some Rap 🤬 .

XXL: Were you guys in the room together when you did it?

Nas: Yeah, heavy. No other way, I was having a slow day in the studio, and he swung by, and it turned into a party. It turned to good times cause that was our first moment. It was an easy vibe.

🤬 outta here he was Nas' hype man on the intro, for a decade that dude couldn't wait to say "What up Esco" on a track

Nas got him on that joint, doesn't take anything away from Jay-z because his verse was good...it is what it is.
