Ryo
Ryo-Sakazaki.jpg
the main character in Art of Fighting, and one of the main characters in The King of Fighters, both fighting game series from SNK. His name is most often written in kana, however, in some games kanji is used to write parts of his name (坂崎 亮, Sakazaki Ryō). He earned the nickname, "The Invincible Dragon" (無敵の龍, Muteki no Ryu).
vs.
Ryu
ryu-champ1.jpg
the main character and "hero" of the Street Fighter series. Ryu has made an appearance in every Street Fighter game, as well as in every crossover fighting game with Capcom characters in it. Ryu has arguably become the most famous character in the fighting game genre, starring in early fighting games such as Street Fighter, but really got well known in Street Fighter II, where he was considered a "basic" character. He, along with Mega Man, is considered one of Capcom's unofficial "mascots".

You got to take the original over the ripoff. On top of that, Ryu is pretty much stated to have the potential to have top tier power in the SF universe. Considering what people at the top tier can do, I'd say that puts him above Ryo.

I prefer playing with Ryo in KOF over Ryu in SF.

He plays nothing like Ryu other than the fact he has a fireball/uppercut in his moveset.

Finally someone actually sense plus Ryo has actually got new moves overtime. Ryu's had the same move SFII(even other SF characters have change more than him)

So? If what he's got works, why change it. And the properties of his moves have changed over the years.

In no rendition was Ryo ever stronger than Ryu EXCEPT for KOF 97, if you read the SNK comics Ryo once knocked Iori out in 1 punch and hit him so hard Iori flew out of the arena and into the ocean - ceding victory to Ryo. I think 97 Ryo would be a fair fight to 97 Ryu but that was during 3rd Strike times meaning that Ryu didnt have the training from Oro making him 10x stronger than any rendition. Remember that SF4 happens after the events of SF2 but before the events of 3rd Strike - that's why Ryu's moveset hasn't changed much to incorporate the moves he learned from Oro. Oro btw was so powerful he beat Ryu with 1 arm, Oro fights w/ only 1 arm in 3rd Strike b/c its no challenge using 2.

Ryo was once able to match Kyo in hand to hand but that was short lived. If Takuma didn't go away forcing him to abandon his training to train Yuri and others as Mr.Karate II he may have been able to surpass Ryu. The fact that Ryu also has access to Satsui No Hadou makes him even more powerful meaning he can reach down inside for even more strength. There's a reason why Bison wanted Ryu or Akuma over all the other fights. Ryu's body could hold vast amounts of power.

Gameplay wise I like that Ryu hasnt changed much, "old faithful" as I call him. Ken has changed the most I liked that Ryu has a simple moveset. KOF is a severely underrated fighter tho. If SNK never had issues & had a consistent distributor for its games in America they'd have been neck & neck with capcom today.

This is mostly right. I'll just point out that even without Oro's training, by SFIII, Ryu has overcome the SnH and progressed past his "Evil Ryu" level of power. By SFIII, Ryu has become like Akuma in the sense that he's so powerful that the actual tournament doesn't mean anything. He was only in it to find someone strong and when he found Oro, he abandoned the tournament all together. Ryo might be powerful but Ryu's approaching levels like we see from Akuma and SFA3 Bison i.e. shonen anime type levels of strength.
