depends on the job... a lot of places won't allow you to apply in person

If it's not a national chain like Walmart,Best Buy,etc...apply in person
That way, you can meet with a manager and when you call to follow up, there's a greater chance they remember you -

Any retail store in the mall like Footlocker...
Banks require you to apply online and submit a resume with the online application...and they require you to take a personlaity test to see if you are worth interviewing -
Apply online...then if you want to expedite the process, call or show up...then when they try to refer you to the website tell those f*ckers you did that already, then ask to speak with a hiring manager.
