Nearly ten months after his final appearance for WWE, CM Punk finally addressed the circumstances behind his departure from the sports-entertainment organization in an explosive two-hour interview with Colt Cabana on the “Art of Wrestling” podcast. On Figure Four Daily on F4WOnline.com on Friday, Bryan Alvarez offered insight on the reaction around WWE to the former Superstar’s controversial remarks (click here to listen).

Even with Punk having a number of detractors in WWE, Alvarez was told that virtually everybody in WWE who listened to the podcast “thought it was awesome.”

Alvarez said, “Now if you know CM Punk, CM Punk is a guy who has his lovers—maybe that’s the wrong word—he has his fans, and he has his detractors. There’s a group of people in WWE who are big fans of CM Punk, and there are people in WWE who just can’t stand the guy. When he left, I heard from people that were like, ‘Thank 🤬 this guy has left! He drove us crazy. He was so angry.’ When he did his podcast with Colt Cabana, he admitted that at the end, he was actually sorry for how many times he told people to 🤬 off. When it happened, I had been told from people that he was so miserable, he was such as a crabby individual, they were glad he was finally gone out of the locker room because they couldn’t handle him anymore. Now with that said, the impression that I got was, even people who did not like CM Punk, even people who really thought he was a miserable guy and were not CM Punk’s fans in the slightest, they were fans of a lot of the stuff that he talked about in the podcast.”

He continued, “It is true, there are a lot of guys in the company who are afraid to speak out, they’re afraid to say anything, they’re afraid to approach management, they’re afraid to ask questions, and CM Punk got a lot of that out in the podcast. And he opened a lot of people’s eyes that didn’t know anything about what goes on internally in WWE. So there were even people that don’t like CM Punk and don’t want him back in the company, who are happy that he did this podcast and said everything that he said.”

Alvarez said Vince McMahon is upset with Punk, but he’s not “fuming.” With the WWE Network airing a live “Stone Cold” Steve Austin podcast with the WWE Chairman and CEO immediately following Raw next Monday, Alvarez was told that it is very unlikely that he will talk about the matter in-depth. If he does, the feeling is that he will offer a “corporate answer.”

Paul “Triple H” Levesque was among those hit the hardest in Punk’s two-hour long speech as The Straight Edge Superstar addressed his issues with the WWE executive throughout the show. During his meeting with Levesque and McMahon that led to his exit from WWE, Punk went off on Levesque for not putting him over in 2011 when he was riding high on the momentum from his infamous “pipe bomb” promo in Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon being told by McMahon that he would be wrestling Levesque in a ‘main event’ at WrestleMania 30, Punk recalled turning to Hunter to say, ‘All due respect, I do not need to wrestle you, you need to wrestle me. I do not want to wrestle you. I seriously resent you for not putting me over three years ago when you should have. That would have been best for business but you had to 🤬 come in and squash it. And then I had to lose to 🤬 Truth and Miz. It didn’t make any business sense then, it doesn’t make any business sense now, and I am in a position now where I can tell you that I don’t have to nor do I want to wrestle you at WrestleMania. I don’t care if I was supposed to win.'”

Punk then noted, “Which I was. I didn’t care. I didn’t want to give him the 🤬 privilege. I said a lot of 🤬 in there. I told them again and Hunter, he was gritting his teeth and I knew… he never liked me. It’s one of those situations where you always hear those stories in the dirt sheets about ‘Hunter says this about Punk’ and all this negative stuff but me and him in a room together? Never any good vibes. Always negative, the way he would always look sideways at me, the way he always treated me.”

According to Alvarez, Levesque is furious with Punk over his remarks. He said he received a text message from a person in WWE reading ‘Triple H wants to 🤬 Punk.'”

Alvarez added that Levesque, as well his wife, Stephanie McMahon, have ‘an abject hatred’ for Punk. He is also considered to be on their no-call list.

WWE officials are also extremely unhappy with Cabana. Cabana, who was being courted by the organization for an announcing role as recently as last year. He is said to be on their “shitlist.”

hopefully hhh learns from this and gets off the 🤬 🤬 when he takes over

Alright here is my thing, with the WWE stock going down, and ratings crumbling, how and what if this whole thing was meant to be a storyline for a new "renaissance" in the WWE world which will correctly implicate "reality" into their business. I mean think about it, the reality era with social media and dirtsheets on the forefront this can be a brilliant business move and way to start a new and improved era in the wrestling business. I'm sure that WWE is aware that fans listen and read podcasts and dirtsheets, so as a business why not finally come with the times and bring a whole sense of realism mixed with kayfabe to their product. Also with the stone cold podcast being apart of the network, have cm punk remarks brought up, and capitolize of this for both sides. Cm Punk can make his return and main event wm, and maybe this can allow Vince to go TV14 to compete with reality TV and UFC for the most controversy through tv ,tabloids, and internet.

Call it the "control system" era where the WWE will run storylines from all angles to where the iwc and smarks would not know what's really going on.....

neither of us actually know if its a work or not but punk and wwe.

    if its a work;

Punk got a much needed year off
ratings, attendance, and viewership been slipping. Raw will get a hell of a ratings boost Monday just to see if anything is mentioned.
Punk waits until the week sting debuts to reveal why he "left"

if its a work, its a work of genius.

actually i think he wanted to main event with the rock and be given a chance to prove he can be an a level guy, u can mention starpower but dude merch was up there with cena, and he was number one amongst the true wrestling fan. and anyone in the world would complain or want to complain about they're checks slowly getting lower and lower while their worth to their job gets higher and higher bruh come on now. plus everyone in the company money affected by the network, idk if he should be gettin brock/rock money since they bring a whole other eye to the company, but u mean to tell me he didnt have the best match on that lackluster ass mania he was talkin about? i see his point on that one. plus vince "owed" him one. and i think his point about droppin the belt was timing(triple threat at mania would have been best for business) and what would happen next(as we know wwe has no continuity on ANYONE'S storylines)

He DID main event with Rock though. And everyone doesn't get that chance, only if they believe in you. Punk was given a 434 day title reign anyhow, always beat Cena and was booked to be top of the chain so he can't complain.

And starpower? His merch was high, his ratings and PPV buyrates were terrible though. And he had no recognition outside of 🤬 wrestling fans.

He was #1 among true wrestling fans? I disagree. He was straight for a few years, then got sloppy and boring as he was focused on more.

His paychecks getting lower is fine to complain about. Not getting Rock/Brock money isn't. He has the best match....so? Does John Morrison and the Shield and whoever has the best match get to get paid more than bonafide main eventers like Rock and Taker......because they had a good match? Nah, it doesn't work that way and never should.

Vince owed him one and gave him a 434 day reign. I think the debt was paid. He beat Shield 3v1 and was going to beat HHH at WM (which is a big deal). How is that not paying him back. I don't defend WWE at all, but Punk was unreasonable.

And the triple threat wouldn't have been best for business. Rock/Cena II was tbh despite how trash it was. Plus Taker needed a match, and Punk was given that honor (and it is an honor).

Rock/Brock would also have been best for business, but WWE got something for Cena winning for w/e reason.

lol @ beating retired hhh being a big deal, the same hhh who had lost most of his last few mania matches and needs to stay his ass backstage instead of always hoggin and bringin out the shovel, he should have beatin hhh after the pipe bomb, and he did have a ppv main event that improved from the previous years ppv, w/o john cena to help, along with that merch. and he did get sloppy for a period, but to act like he didnt have the best match at mania and easily the best match with brock since he returned, along with an assortment of other GREAT matches is somewhat ridiculous. who else besides daniel bryan that was near the main event ranked higher among the true wrestling fan. maybe he's reaching on getting paid for best match of the night, but i can see why he'd wanna get paid like he was nearly as important as cena or the part timers...because at that point he was. vince put the 🤬 him but he earned the right for a 434 day run by staying over and busting his ass, not vince giving it to him. he ran with it.

yeah wwe believed in punk so much in his feud with rock they made him drop the belt to a part timer
few months later he lost to another part timer, taker
and months later he lost to another part timer, lesnar
punk busted his ass night in and night out fighting through injuries while all these wrestlers who beat him aren't showing up on tv from months to a year. he's looking weak to the casual wwe fan

Vince kept saying he owed punk after his title reign ended, so the debt wasn't paid. punks reward for all of his hard work wasn't a victory over the shield or hhh and you know that so your defense goes out the window

ratings and buyrates have been low with cena/orton as champ as well. again, another argument that goes out the window

punk vs taker at WM29 was booked as one of the main draws. it wasn't just a random match that happened to steal the show. people wanted to see it just as much if not more than they wanted to see rock/cena or hhh/lesnar. he's a part of that ppv's success as everyone else. he should be paid accordingly

rock vs cena vs punk sounds a lot better than rock vs cena. you know, the "once in a lifetime" match that was booked twice?

9 months into his 434 day reign and punk, as wwe champion, only main evented one ppv. TLC 2011, only because cena wasn't on the card. he played second fiddle to whatever feud cena was in. cena vs johnny ace main evented a ppv, yet punk vs DB for the wwe title couldn't. he wasn't main eventing unless he was facing cena and until he faced the rock, which was his last night as champion

so even during his historic reign, he still wasn't being booked as well as you suggested

Cena/Brock was better than Punk/Brock by far. First and second (for shock value).

Also, I'll say it again, Punk was given more than he deserved, given a 400+ day title reign. For him to complain is laughable.

Y'all are missing the point. CM Punk was busting his ass, making all the appearances, working injured/hurt. He knew they didn't view him in the same light as the Rock or Cena. Hence the chip on his shoulder to prove them wrong. All he asked for was to main event WrestleMania. Vince tried to bs Punk by claiming he was "main eventing". Punk's idea of the triple threat made sense and it would've been a better match. So then Punk asked if I was "main eventing" did I get paid like Taker/HHH/Cena/Brock/Rock? Which he knew he didn't, they tried to gas him up to get him to shut up.

Punk's other main point was that he was literally dying and all they cared about was him making appearances and working shows. He just needed time off to heal properly. Then you had dr Kevorkian literally misdiagnosing Punk in order to get him back in the ring. Which brings up a bigger issue and that is guys and gals in the locker room are being overworked and have to work through injury. Punk is in a position where he can say something but the Heath Slater's and Xavier Woods have no choice. And if they were misdiagnosing Punk then you know others were being misdiagnosed as well.
